    the importance of

    Trichology Consultation

Each case of hair loss is different, and uncovering the root cause requires detailed questioning and examination. This is why we adopt a holistic approach to diagnosis, aiming to identify and address the underlying triggers. If you are experiencing hair loss, hair thinning, or a related disorder, we are here to help.

During your consultation, a Trichologist will dedicate time to understanding your specific situation, enabling an accurate diagnosis of the underlying issues. Based on this diagnosis, we will recommend the most effective treatment, which may include further consultations or additional testing if required.

    Hair Loss Types

The eight most frequently addressed types of hair loss

    Female Pattern Hair Loss

This type of hair loss, also known as alopecia, is commonly triggered by hormones, ageing, and genetic factors.

    Postpartum Hair Loss

Often characterised by a dramatic shedding—sometimes in large clumps—that typically occurs within the first six months after childbirth.

    Traction Alopecia

Hair loss resulting from hairstyles that pull the hair tightly. If identified early, this condition can be completely reversed.

    Menopausal Hair Loss

During menopause, a decrease in oestrogen and progesterone levels can lead to slower hair growth and thinning.

    Frontal Fibrosing Alopecia

This condition typically presents as a receding hairline, affecting the front and sides of the scalp.

    Telogen Effluvium

This form of hair loss generally appears several months following a stressful event or traumatic period.

    Trichotillomania (Hair Pulling)

A compulsive disorder often triggered by stress or anxiety, which may also coexist with an anxiety disorder.

    Chemical Processing

The absorption of chemicals by the scalp can impair the quality of new hair growth.

"The management of hair disorders should not be confined to dermatological interventions alone. A multidisciplinary approach, incorporating nutritional guidance, psychological support, and environmental assessments, is essential for addressing the complex and multifaceted nature of hair and scalp health." (Trüeb, 2009, Female Alopecia: Guide to Successful Management, Springer)

    Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions About Balayage & Highlights: Answering the Top Hair Coloring Queries

Balayage (taken from the French word for ‘sweeping’) is a subtle freehand colouring technique. Colour is painted directly onto designated sections of the hair without using foil. The result is a more natural, sun-kissed hue, without any harsh contrast between colours.

Your balayage colour can be made bespoke for you, and it’s a great way to overhaul your look without making too many bold changes.

Balayage is a softer, more natural looking result than traditional foil highlights. Regrowth lines are less noticeable, and the lines are more delicate, creating a golden, sun-kissed look that recreates a few weeks spent somewhere warm.
