Charlotte & Sam: A Timeless Brunswick House Wedding

A duet from music to love… Charlotte and Sam first met as performers in a concert at their high school, and their friendship blossomed at university into an inseparable relationship. Here’s the story of the culmination — a gorgeous wedding, inspired by vintage glamour! First, the ceremony at Marylebone Town Hall, then a truly amazing reception at Brunswick House, making an unforgettable day filled with classic, timeless elegance and old Hollywood-style romance.

The Proposal

Sam proposed to Charlotte on the balcony of their favourite hotel, a quiet and intimate space with a view of golden Italy stretching out below them. “Sam’s very romantic,” says Charlotte, smiling at the memory.

Style and Vision

The couple wanted the day to convey the feelings and aesthetics of old, classic Hollywood romances. Charlotte, attired in a dreamy white dress with puffed sleeves, and Sam (“definitely looking like a film star,” says Charlotte) all done up in a tux, together looking for all the world as if they had stepped straight out from the silver screen.

Bridal Look

Another touch of Hollywood was brought out in Charlotte’s hairstyle and makeup, styled by Izabella Bordignon and inspired by Margot Robbie’s signature beauty. “She’s very blonde, like me, and has similar length hair,” says Charlotte. “And the Barbie movie had just come out!” Her vision was brought to life by Izabella, creating a perfect and timeless look of effortless, luminous glamour.

“The experience of working with Izabella was excellent. It couldn’t have been better,” says Charlotte. “You were so lovely and calming and helpful to work with. I usually don’t wear a lot of makeup, so I was nervous having it done professionally. But I loved it!”

Charlotte chose Izabella after admiring examples of her work and reading many trustworthy recommendations from other brides. “I’d seen your work online and read great reviews!”

Thoughtful Details

Like all big weddings, there was months of planning and preparation beforehand. One can only imagine the stress! “But you’ve just got to remember to breathe!” says Charlotte. And the little details are just as important as the big ones, especially when they add to the lifetime memories of the occasion. “My dad gave me my grandma’s brooch to walk down the aisle with,” Charlotte tells us. “A beautiful sentiment that for me really set the tone for the day.”

The couple are avid readers, and presented each guest with a book from their collection stamped “from the library of the new Mr and Mrs Shore.” A unique and personal inspiration for a memento of the happy day.

Favourite Wedding Memories

When we asked Charlotte for her favourite memories, she didn’t hesitate. “Not being able to sleep the night before because I was so excited. And then being in the car with Sam after we’d just got married and getting to be by ourselves for a little while. So gorgeous! Strangers waved and beeped their horns. So exciting!”

Love and Laughter

“The Best Man’s speech was the funniest moment,” says Charlotte. “He nailed it. The three of us have known each other since school, and I was worried we’d be in for a proper ribbing, but he laid more into all our friends – that worked for us!”

Honeymoon in Vietnam

Charlotte and Sam enjoyed a honeymoon that was both romantic and thrilling in Vietnam, spicing up their first days of marriage with all the sights, culture and flavours that the country has to offer. “It was the perfect balance of adventure and relaxation, a chance to unwind, explore, and enjoy quiet moments together.”

The Bride’s Recommendations

We asked Charlotte to tell us the suppliers she used and would recommend to future brides. Here’s her list:

Hair & Makeup: Izabella Bordignon London

Photography: Joasis Photography

Wedding Dress: The Boutique & Co.

Venue: Brunswick House

Ceremony: The Old Marylebone Town Hall

Flowers: FLWR Studio (Charlotte’s “best friend”)

And her words of wisdom? “Try not to listen too much to what everyone else thinks you should do or how your wedding should look. You’ll remember the bits you loved much more than remembering what everyone else felt about it!”

Brunswick House Wedding

Charlotte and Sam’s vintage Hollywood-inspired wedding took place at Brunswick House, just south of the Thames in Vauxhall. The Georgian Mansion dating from 1758, the crumbling grandeur of Grade II listed Georgian House blends elegance, architectural antiques, charm and personal details for a day straight out of a classic love story. From antique-filled rooms to candlelit wine vaults, the venue provides a backdrop where every moment feels timeless. Imagine your wedding ceremony in the Library Room, stepping out into the courtyard garden for that magical confetti toss, then stealing away to the roof terrace for golden-hour photos. It’s a setting made for brides who want history woven into every detail of their day.

Of course, the celebration doesn’t stop at the setting. The renowned Brunswick House Restaurant delivers an unforgettable culinary experience, with seasonal dishes from local farms and artisanal producers.

One of the most sought-after wedding venues in South London, Brunswick House provides a magical and memorable setting for all sizes of wedding, from intimate ceremonies to grand receptions.
