Why is the Winter Season Magical?

The winter months transform the world into a sparkling wonderland, with snow-dusted landscapes, glowing candlelight, and an atmosphere filled with intimacy and romance. It’s natural beauty, paired with festive touches and warm, luxurious details, creates the perfect backdrop for a dreamy fairytale wedding.

Brittany & Ben’s Love Story

From the moment Ben saw Brittany, he felt an instant connection and knew he had to introduce himself. What started as an instant spark quickly blossomed into something extraordinary.

During a romantic springtime walk in Kensington Gardens, Ben got down on one knee and popped the magical question every girl dreams of hearing. For Brittany, it was a dream come true – and her answer was an immediate, heartfelt yes!

Brittany and Ben chose to celebrate their love with an intimate winter wonderland wedding theme, proving that all you truly need for the perfect day are the people who matter most. With laughter, love, and deep memories, they created a day that will be cherished forever.

How Was Your Experience With us?

Wonderful from start to finish. Izabella’s whole team were so professional, efficient and highly communicative throughout – something so important when you’re in the throes of wedding planning. Izabella seamlessly produced high quality results whilst bringing such calm energy to the wedding day which is exactly what any bride wants.

Why Did You Choose Us?

Izabella immediately understood the vision and went above and beyond to get to know me, my hair type, skin tone, asking for information and photos in advance that made the trial and wedding days so slick. No other company or stylist I had spoken to went to that much effort ahead of time to be as prepared and it made such a difference. From the start I just felt relaxed and like her team would take care of everything.

What was Your Inspiration for Your Winter Wedding?

Timeless elegance. Ben and I are history lovers, lovers of art and literature which is why we chose Temple Church followed by the stunning wedding venue Two Temple Place, both historical landmarks that have stood the test of time. I wanted my wedding looks to reflect those surroundings, glamorous but enduring.

How Did You Both Meet?

At university in Scotland. Ben had been coerced into attending a Christmas concert by his very musical flatmate where I was singing in the choir. He noticed me and introduced himself soon after.

What Was Your Inspiration for Your Hair & Makeup?

Old Hollywood glamour. Feminine soft sculpted hair waves, striking and sophisticated makeup. It was perfect for my Winter Wonderland Wedding

What Was a Memorable Moment for You?

We had a sixteen-piece choir (The Temple Singers) perform throughout our wedding ceremony. The first hymn sung after my arrival was the Bob Chilcott arrangement of Be Thou My Vision – the very hymn that I had been singing when Ben first noticed me at that Christmas concert back in 2018. Full circle and so emotional.

Where Was Your Honeymoon?

Venice, Italy. I highly recommend the Ca’Sagredo Hotel in Ca’ D’Oro, so unbelievably beautiful, especially at that time of year and perfectly placed for snowy walks in search of coffee!

Any Advice for Future IB Brides

Remember to stand back and soak it all up, the planning, the day itself, it all goes by so fast. Soak it in. Ben and I scheduled a 20 minute catch up over champagne between arriving at the reception venue and being announced into the room for dinner, where we could catch our breath and take a moment to really take in the day together – highly recommended. Extra points if your catering team can set aside a selection of canapes for you both to ensure you actually get to try some of the menu you have spent time deciding on!

Frequently Asked Questions About Winter Wedding Hair, Makeup, and Preparation

1. How should I prep my hair for a winter wedding?

Winter can be harsh on hair, so start with a deep-conditioning treatment a week or two before the wedding to combat dryness. Use a lightweight, anti-frizz serum on the day to keep your hair smooth and sleek despite the cold.

2. What hairstyles work best for winter weddings?

Hair up and sleek buns are great for winter because they stay in place despite the wind or snow. Soft waves with pinned-back sections also work beautifully if you prefer a more relaxed, romantic look.

3. Can I still wear my hair down for a winter wedding?

Absolutely! If you prefer to wear your hair down, consider soft curls or waves paired with a statement accessory like a crystal headband or winter-themed pins. Use a strong-hold hairspray to keep your style intact despite the winter breeze.

4. How can I make my makeup last in the cold weather?

Prep your skin with a hydrating primer and choose long-wear, waterproof formulas for foundation, eyeliner, and mascara. A setting spray is a must to lock everything in place, especially with temperature changes from indoors to outdoors.

5. How do I keep my skin from looking dry or flaky on the day?

Start moisturising weeks in advance, focusing on hydration. On the wedding day, use a creamy foundation and avoid powders that might emphasise dryness. A light facial mist can also keep your skin fresh throughout the day.

6. What should I do to protect my hair and makeup from wind or snow?

Use anti-humidity hairspray to keep your hairstyle intact, even in unpredictable winter weather. For makeup, opt for waterproof products and carry a touch-up kit with blotting papers, lipstick, and a compact for quick fixes.

7. Should I change my skincare routine for a winter wedding?

Yes, winter months can dry out your skin, so switch to a richer moisturiser and add hydrating serums to your routine. Exfoliate gently once or twice a week to remove dry patches, ensuring smooth skin for flawless makeup application.

8. What hair accessories work best for winter weddings?

Winter is the perfect season to incorporate sparkling accessories like jewelled pins, tiaras, or even snowflake-inspired designs. Faux fur wraps or elegant veils can also complement your hairstyle beautifully and keep you warm.

9. How far in advance should I book my hair and makeup trial?

It’s best to schedule your hair and makeup trial at least 2-3 months before your wedding. This allows time to make adjustments and align the look with your dress, venue, and winter wedding theme.

Planning a winter wedding is an exciting journey, and our Bridal Team is here to help future brides create their dream look. From expert advice to personalised styling, we’re dedicated to making your special day as magical as Brittany’s winter wonderland wedding!
