Martha’s wedding vision drew inspiration from an eclectic mix of styles—embracing the essence of dark romance and poetry with subtle nods to her Italian and Kiyon’s Persian roots.

Martha came to us with a clear and specific vision for her wedding look, and we were so happy to be a part of this love story.

As Martha and Kiyon embark on their honeymoon in Thailand, we, the Izabella Bordignon team, extend our warmest wishes for a lifetime filled with love and happiness. Their story beautifully illustrates the power of love and we are grateful to have been a part of their extraordinary journey.

Thank you Martha for sharing your captivating story and your insights and cherished memories, and our thanks also to the photographer.

We invite you to delve into this captivating tale, as Martha reveals her story in their own words, offering insights and cherished memories that will resonate with anyone who believes in the magic of true love.

How was your experience with us?

My experience with Izabella and her team was phenomenal from start to finish. It was so important to me that I work with someone who I got along with and understood my vision and I really felt I found that from my first conversations with the team up until making last-minute tweaks to my look on the morning of my wedding.

Why did you choose us?

I think it’s so important to align with the same vision and because I saw previous examples of Izabella and her team’s work and those examples resembled the approach I wanted for my own wedding look it was pretty easy to decide that this team would be my hair and makeup team for my wedding.

What was your inspiration for wedding day at Home House London?

It’s hard to say, because it was such a vast amalgamation of inspirations.

  • Dark romance
  • Poetic ethereality
  • Tapping into my Southern Italian heritage as well as honouring the Persian background of my husband.

I would say that there was no fixed theme for my wedding and instead a cohesive layering of inspiration to create a truly unique and tailored aesthetic.

How did you both meet?

We met in Los Angeles, on social media in 2015, and on our first date I planned to meet my husband outside of his favourite hotel where we would have lunch and drinks only to pull up to a wrecking ball swinging into the side of the building and him looking on in despair. Los Angeles doesn’t lack in hotel restaurants so we chose somewhere else and the date was saved – but it definitely made for a memorable first date.

How did he propose to you?

My husband and I are both lovers of travelling and very private people – and I think he absolutely nailed our proposal. Prior to the Covid pandemic we were booked to go to Vietnam for two weeks. We had to cancel that trip unfortunately, but we were able to rebook to go in 2022. I could tell something was on his mind in the weeks leading up to the trip (and my mum was also acting suspiciously) but I just assumed at the time work was quite stressful due to how long we would be off for.

Towards the end of our trip we stayed in a beachside resort on An Bang beach, just outside of Hoi An. The sunsets here are indescribably beautiful and our resort had a lovely wooden swing overlooking the ocean and sunset. And on that swing, while we talked about how lucky we were and what we wanted to do in the future, he asked me to marry him and presented the most beautiful ring. It was perfect and it was just us.

What did you do to prepare for your special day?

WATER – and lots of it. I kept my skincare routine as it is because my skin has reached a level of balance but I have a history of chronic dehydration so I made it a mission for a year to be as hydrated as possible from the inside out. I could see this made a huge difference not just on my skin, but also the shine and density of my hair.

What was your inspiration for your wedding hair and makeup?

My hair inspiration has always been to have a more polished style to my natural curl pattern. For my makeup this evolved even up to the day but I knew I wanted a romantic glamour with a touch of regality.

I don’t typically wear a lot of makeup on a day-to-day basis so it took a lot of trying different things on my trial to know how to execute what I wanted on the day. And even on the day, I’ve tried some things we hadn’t discussed before. I really trusted the process and the result really speaks for itself.

Where will your honeymoon be?

Thailand, and we can’t wait!

One or two pieces of advice for IB Brides?

Just one – and that is to be very clear and firm on your vision. The team at IB can more easily deliver exactly what you want when you know exactly what you want.

That being said, being open to allowing the individual talents from Izabella and her team to shine through will really allow your look and experience to be the absolute best.
