Molly & Alex’s Modern Fairytale: A London Wedding Story

In September 2023, Molly and Alex embarked on their forever journey at The Old Marylebone Town Hall in London.

Molly, a vision of timeless beauty, partnered with the talented team at Izabella Bordignon to create a bridal look that was both effortlessly chic and effortlessly her.

Their modern fairytale, set against the backdrop of London’s vibrant cityscape, is an inspiration to all who believe in the power of love, laughter, and the magic of a perfect day.

This article is a celebration of Molly and Alex’s love story, a story filled with modern charm, heartfelt moments, and a dash of humour. Through their journey, they inspire us to embrace individuality, cherish the small moments, and celebrate life with the people we love most.

Molly’s story is an inspiration to all brides-to-be. It reminds us that the most important ingredient for a successful wedding is not perfect adherence to tradition, but rather the unwavering love and support of your partner and the willingness to create a celebration that reflects your unique personalities and desires.

Our sincere thanks to Molly for generously sharing her personal story, a modern London fairytale woven with love, laughter, and unforgettable memories and the photographer who captured each enchanting moment.

How was your experience with us?

Working with Izabella and her team was a dream. From the very first call with the team I knew I was in good hands, and the professional and seamless experience continued throughout all our communication, bridal trial and then eventually the big day. In the end, it felt like Izabella was a friend joining us on the morning of my wedding, I trusted her completely and was so happy with the result.

Why did you choose us?

I chose Izabella and her team based on her glowing reviews, and amazing communication that I received from very early on in the process. The team listened intently to what I wanted, and was very accommodating throughout.

What was your inspiration, theme/style of your wedding day?

A modern, London city wedding.

How did you both meet?

We actually met at work, when we were both at the early stages of our careers in New Zealand. One work Christmas party later, and the rest was history!

How did he propose to you?

On a ski holiday in Switzerland over the New Year period in 2021/2022, we were having lunch overlooking the beautiful mountains and it was a complete surprise when Alex got down on one knee (in ski boots and all) and asked me to marry him. For the rest of the afternoon we continued to ski, but I was so giddy with excitement I could barely manage to stay upright!

Did you DIY anything?

Yes, one of my very talented bridesmaids sewed her own beautiful dress, and my sister designed and hand-drew some of the stationery items for our reception.

What did you do to prepare for your special day?

Tried to stay as relaxed as possible by making time for myself, whether that be through going to my favourite gym class, a walk with the dog or a facial at Cowshed. I tried my best to get as many of the little things sorted before our friends and family arrived from overseas, so we could enjoy as much time together as possible without the wedmin.

What was your inspiration for your wedding hair & makeup?

For the makeup, I wanted something clean, fresh-faced and glowing – essentially “no makeup makeup” to make it timeless. For the hair, I wanted to bring out some glamour which I wouldn’t be able to achieve in everyday life, and have the hair half swept up, so that my face wasn’t hidden.

What was a memorable moment for you?

The whole day was so memorable, but one of my favourite moments was seeing Alex at the end of the aisle for the first time, with my parents on either arm walking me down to him.

The funniest moment on the day was or something that surprised you?

I loved all the speeches, everyone spoke so well and there were some moments where both Alex and I were keeled over in stitches. Including when Alex’s best man decided to play a rendition of Celine Dion’s ‘It’s all coming back to me now’ mid-way through his speech.

Where was your honeymoon?

We spent our honeymoon in France, celebrating the Rugby World Cup and having some relaxing time in Provence and Cassis.

One or two piece of advice for future IB Brides

Don’t sweat the small stuff, as on the day you will be so swept up in the magic and focused on celebrating with your closest loved ones, that you won’t worry about those things at all. Don’t feel like you have to follow any template/traditions – we had our reception on a boat cruising down the Thames and it was hands down one of the best ideas we had!

Any last advice or words of wisdom that you can share?

Izabella and her team were so incredible and made the experience so relaxing and fun that I wish we could do it all over again!
